Commonwealth Games

The Commonwaelth Games has been on for a week now. There are lots of hype and many good sports to watch indeed.

We were at the Yarra river bank for the Opening Night. The place was so crowded with people that we only managed to get a spot where we had to crane our necks to catch a glimpse of the "Fish" sculptures in the middle of the river. The shroud of secrecy was unveilded as we come to realised that the floating "fish" were meant to be a floating platform for the athletes bearing the Queen's baton as well as serving as launch pads for the fire works and water fountains.

There were many huge projection screens along the river bank so to catch a veiw of the ceremony in the MCG was not a problem at all.

The fire works were quite spectacular as they were bursting forth from each of the 71 "fish" in synchronised fashion. I reckoned it was also the first time the fire works was fired from the top of tall building in the city.

Melbourne, and the rest of Australia is known for being pretty sport crazy. They say that you whenever and whatever sport event is being organised, the people would fill the stadium.

The only game that I have watched was the badminton on Thurs afternoon 22/3 at Exhibition building. Carol, Sarah and I went and it was worth the ticket.

There were only one price per race in Romans/Biblical times -

1 Corinthians 9:24"Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize."

The Motto : Be focussed alwasy, ran the race of faith..................

The MCG crowds reminds me of this verse....

Hebrews 12:1 "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us..."
