kite flying

On a bright and sunny winter day last week, we went kite flying in the nearby Ruffley Lake Park. We bought the nylon fabric kites from Costco 2 weeks ago and was waiting for some good weather to put them into action.

I got a aeroplane kite and Sarah got a butterfly kite.

The first attempt was on a tuesday afternoon but the wind was weak - we had to run up and down the sloping hill sides to get the kite in the air. The sky was crystal blue with a few specks of clouds in the distance.  Such is the simple joy and pleasure.

Today is our second attempt with much better results as the wind was so strong. In fact it was so strong that the winder spun out of control. It was made of plastic and when i applied the brakes, the spindle and brakes fused together. The spindle is in blue and the brake is in yellow and the fused bit is result of the mixed colour - Green!

From kite flying we get the simple principle of life in the spirit, when the Spirit is not there, you can only get some success by much effort in getting something off the ground. But when the wind of the Spirit is present, everything becomes so easy.....

the last I flew a kite was during my teen's. In KL there is a popular spot for this sport. I wish I can fly one with my boys.
