Some shots from Europe, Canada & United States
We had a family holiday last December because our eldest son was doing his medical elective in Montreal Canada in Jan 2009 for 4 weeks. The family took the opportunity to fly in with him to check out the place. Then, we realised that the round-the-world airfare was the same as flying to Canada and back to Melbourne. Hence we took a round the globe trip via Europe, making 5 stops in total - namely Rome, Venice, Paris, London, New York, Toronto, LA and back to Aus. It was an adventure on shoes strings budget as we used the internet to make most of the accommodation bookings and tripadvisor plus wikitravel to guide us in getting all the bargains. In was worth it as we only used a fraction of the cost of a normal packaged tour. We walked heaps and took public transport like underground rails, cheap airport bus connections etc. The added benefits is that we can do it at our own pace.
For example, We got rooms from Travel Lodge group online booking that are as cheap as 19 Pounds per night in London! we had hired car ( a Nissan 2.4 litre car) in London for a the 3 days Christmas weekend for only 90 Pounds. Eating is mainly take away fast food but we make sure we splurge a bit at dinner or the final night at a particular city to taste the local goodies.

at the age of eighty-six, penned the following words that best describe himself and sums up his entire life:
“ I was early taught to work as well as play,
My life has been one long, happy holiday;
Full of work and full of play-
I dropped the worry on the way-
And God was good to me everyday.
